Alternative Uses For Steel Pipe That You May Not Have Considered

Steel pipe can be handy for many different things and because it is very strong, it can be used to hold material and for things that you may never have considered. Steel pipe is readily available and you can buy it in many different lengths and diameters, and many suppliers will cut it to the length you need if they don't have the right one already in stock.

Air Lines

Steel pipe is great for routing compressed air to places in your garage or if you are running lines outside that need protected from damage. It is durable and will hold the pressure inside the as well as being durable enough to stand up to light impacts on the outside. With the large variety of connectors available for the pipe, you can route the pipe just about anywhere you need it and even add lines that branch off the mainline if you need to.

Hanging Fixtures

Steel pipe makes a good material to create all kinds of different fixtures from. Coat racks on the wall inside the door of your home, towel racks in a modern industrial themed bathroom, or even support that you can put glass or wooden shelves on can all be inexpensive uses that offer a very unique look to your home.

Because you can cut the pipe to any length you need and thread the ends, you can use elbows and other connectors to create many different things out of the pipe. It can be painted or left raw, the choice is yours.

Handrails and Railings

Adding a handrail outside your home that will stand up to weather and a lot of use is another great use for steel pipe. Pipe flanges make great mounting plates to attach the handrail to a wall or with the right bolts and anchors, you can mount the handrail to concrete or brick if you need to.

If the steel pipe is heavy enough, you can use it for a railing or a safety rail around the edge of a deck or concrete pad. Painting the steel pipe will help protect it from the weather and it will last for many years. If you want the pipe to stay in place permanently, you can weld the joints together to add some strength to the assemble, but for most applications, it is not necessary. Threading the parts together will typically be enough to hold them and then if you do need to replace a section, you can still get them apart.

About Me

Manufactured Home Production: An Inside Look

I grew up in an area that is known for manufactured home production. I was fascinated by the whole process, of how all of those materials came together to produce homes for people. It led me to learn everything I could about industrial manufactured home production. The more I learned, the more respect I developed for these structures and those who build them. I created this site to show others how structurally sound these homes are and what goes into their production. I hope this information helps you as you start looking at these homes to choose your next family home.
